Professor Jan Czernuszka set up and is Head of the Biomaterials Group at the University of Oxford. He has over 300 publications, 13 patents and is Director of two startups: Oxtex Ltd is a MedTech that manufactures self inflating tissue expanders for use in plastic surgery and already has two commercial products. Oxford Medical Products Ltd manufacturers an aid to bariatric surgery and weight loss programmes. Jan Czernuszka collaborates widely – and has strong interactions with groups in China, the US, Ghana, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Jan has been Chairman of the Faculty of Materials at Oxford University, Vice President of Trinity College, on the Divisional Board of the IoMMM, Council of the Royal Microscopical Society and on the Editorial Board of several Journals. He has raised over £70m in grant funding. His current research interests include ; design of scaffolds for tissue engineering, hybrid biological structures, and Materials based solutions for conditions such as club foot and small bowel syndrome.
